We have always recommended our guests visit Kenya between January to March since the temperatures are hot, favoring wildlife sightings in the different Kenya National Parks. The months of January to March make it easy to spot big cats and also get a chance to see a hunt like in Masai Mara.
April to June
This is a very wet and humid season. The long rains in Kenya start from late March to June, these rains are known as Masika. The months of April to June are a bit difficult to visit East Africa, especially Kenya and Tanzania for safari since the access roads and even wildlife sightings become hard to spot.
July to October
It’s one of the best times to visit Kenya and there is a better and more favorable climate to spot wildlife. The plains are filled with grass and enough food for wildlife. It coincides with the great wildebeest migration where more than 8000 Wildebeests migrate from the South of Serengeti to Northern Serengeti into Masai Mara.
The weather is generally dry. The game-viewing action continues in the Mara, and it is still excellent throughout Kenya for wildlife.
November to December
It’s a wet and humid season from November to December. Although it’s a short rainy season, it’s a good time to visit Kenya for safari holidays and enjoy lots of activities and wildlife sightings. Visiting parks like Amboseli and Tsavo West National Parks can be well explored during these months. Towards the end of December, the month gets hot as January comes in.
The end of the year can be hot and potentially wet — it’s the middle of the short rains, with some camps closed (particularly in the north) and some open. Where camps are open, wildlife viewing remains very good, with high bird numbers present.
