Best Time to Visit Meru National Park

Dry Season (June to September): This is the best period for wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources.

Wet Season (October to May): The park is lush and green, offering beautiful landscapes and excellent bird watching. However, some roads may become muddy and challenging to navigate through.

Low Season

March to May; November

These are the wettest months of the year, with heavy rains making some roads difficult to navigate. Visitor numbers are low, offering a more secluded experience. The park is lush and green, making it ideal for birdwatching and photography, but wildlife spotting may be harder due to dense vegetation

High Season

June to October

This is the dry season, with excellent conditions for wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources. The weather is pleasant, and roads are more accessible. Visitor numbers are moderate, and it’s a great time to explore the park without large crowds.

Peak Season

December to February

This is the busiest time, as the dry weather coincides with holidays. Wildlife is easier to spot, and the scenery is stunning with clear skies. Accommodations tend to fill up quickly, so advance bookings are recommended.

How to get to Meru National Park

By Road: Meru National Park is about 350 kilometers from Nairobi making the journey approximately 6 to 7 hours by road. The roads are generally in good condition, though a 4WD vehicle is recommended, especially during the wet season.

By Air: There are scheduled and charter flights to Kinna Airstrip near the park, with a flight time of about an hour from Nairobi.
