ACCESS & LOCATION of Elewana Lewa Safari Camp
There are scheduled and chartered flights to the Lewa Downs airstrip which is just 20 minutes from the camp. There are daily flights from Nairobi’s Wilson airport that take approximately 1 hour to the airstrip. Charter flights from other major locations in kenya such as Samburu, Maasai Mara and Nanyuki are available.
From nairobi to the camp is approximately 260 kms making it a 5 – 6 hour drive depending on road conditions. If you are coming from Nanyuki it’s just a 65 km drive that would take you 2 hours.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Elewana Lewa Safari Camp
Elewana Lewa safari camp has 11 ensuite safari tents, they can all be laid out as doubles or twins. three of them can accommodate triples for children under 16 only. Under each thatch-covered tent is a main bedroom, en-suite bathroom and a spacious verandah.
There are only two family tent suites each consisting of two en-suite safari tents(one double, one twin) with a shared verandah. An extra bed for a third child under 16 years can be accommodated in one of the Family tents so as to accommodate a family of 5.
There is an outdoor swimming pool , 24 hour security and on bird watching opportunities.
ACTIVITIES AT Elewana Lewa Safari Camp
Game Drives
The drives are within the Lewa wildlife conservancy. The conservancy is home to the big five as well as the largest concentration of Grevy’s zebra in the world. Get to experience rhino sightings as lewa conservancy gives you exceptional opportunities for rhino sightings with it inhabiting over 200 black and white rhinos.
Ngare Ndare Forest
This is a guided walk to the Ngare Ndare forest conservancy located to the south of Lewa. There is a canopy walk and a river in which you can play in. Due to the presence of elephants in the forest a guide escorts you.
Horse and Camel riding
The camp offers evening horse rides, for experienced riders only as even though it is a gentle walk you are still in the wild and hence in control in case the horses are spooked. There are also evening camel rides suitable for those without riding skills as the camels are led by Samburu handlers.
Cultural and Conservancy visits
The camp offers visits to neighbouring local Samburu homesteads. there is a get involved program whereby guests can make donations to Lewa Education Program, those who do can visit the schools during term time or even participate in conservation work like training of tracker dogs.
