About Cherero Camp Serengeti
Cherero Camp Serengeti is located in Tanzania. Specifically at Musabi Plains that is in a secluded region near the heart of the Serengeti National park. Cherero aa swahili word meaning lovebirds which is a name that comes from the fischer’s lovebirds that are a native to the north central Tanzania.
Cherero camp happens to be the only camp in this remote region yet the same region that happens to be the best place to see the big five and more. What this means is that you get to enjoy game viewing with no other people around.
ACCESS & LOCATION of Cherero Camp Serengeti
Cherero Camp Serengeti has two airstrips nearby namely Seronera airstrip and Grumeti airstrip. There are daily scheduled flights from Arusha, Kilimanjaro International airport as well as other major airstrips in Tanzania to Seronera or Grumeti airstrips.
Flights from Arusha take an hour while those from Kilimanjaro International airport is 1.5 hours. Upon landing there will be a short drive to the camp with that from Seronera airstrip taking 45 minutes and from Grumeti taking 1.5 to 2 hours.
The camp is 325 km away from Arusha making the drive 7 to 8 hours depending on road and weather conditions, a scenic route that takes you through Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park. A drive from Seronera which is 35 km away would take 45 minutes.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Cherero Camp Serengeti
The camp has 6 spacious suites on decked platforms that are furnished with either 1 king size bed or two twin beds. Two units can be joined into a family of triple suite. The camp is powered by solar systems for lighting, electricity and water heating. Each having its own private veranda facing the sunrise.
There is a central dining tent that serves meals inspired by local and international cuisine. Meals are freshly prepared with locally sourced ingredients. There is outdoor dining experiences as well such as bush breakfasts, picnics and candlelit dinners under the sun.
There is wellness amenities available both a yoga and meditation space as well as an in tent massage.
