About Kimondo Migration Camp
**THIS CAMP WAS CLOSED DOWN**
Kimondo Migration Camp is a top luxury mobile tented camp that moves with the wildebeest migration. It takes up the two major locations for the great migration over the year – North and South Serengeti. In the north, it sits on the Lamai Wedge with only two other camps. This means you get river crossings without the other vehicles. Run by Asilia, you can be sure of excellent levels of hospitality and service, great food, beautiful tents, and engaging safari guides.
Activities are based around morning and afternoon game drives, in the north (July to November), Kimondo is within driving distance of several communities and villages. It is possible to visit a traditional homestead and be entertained by the local Kuria dancers or spend the morning at the market, shopping for crafts and handmade souvenirs.
ACCESS & LOCATION of Kimondo Migration Camp
In the south Kimondo is located just southwest of Ndutu. There are very few camps further west, allowing for a sense of privacy in what tends to be a busy area. The best time to visit Ndutu is in February. While in the north its located around Lamai Wedge for the great migration and crossings.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Kimondo Migration Camp
Kimondo Camp is an intimate 8 tented safari camp that moves between the Southern and Northern Serengeti to track the movements of the Migration. When in the North, Kimondo Camp is situated on the Lamai Wedge in an exclusive area east of Kogatende Bridge, offering excellent access to both the river and the open spaces of Lamai.
In the South, the camp is nestled under Acacia trees in a bowl of open grasslands with a permanent water source that attracts wildlife throughout the season. Tents are spacious and comfortable with en-suite flush toilets and safari showers.
To the front is a small veranda and seating area that allows guests to enjoy the peace of the bush in their own space. After activities, guests gather at the fireplace, sundowner spots, and the common dining and library tent or have a private dinner under the stars.
When visiting Kimondo Camp, the migration should be your main point of interest, so why not then also combine it with Asilia’s Namiri Plains. For some of the best big cat sightings, especially of cheetahs, this area of the Serengeti recently opened up for tourists and provides an experience that is hard to beat.

ACTIVITIES AT Kimondo Migration Camp
Game Drives
Game drives tend to be the principal means of going about spotting wildlife, and are likely to comprise a great deal of your safari – so it goes without saying that this aspect of your experience is a special point of focus for us. We believe the way to get the most out of your time is that everyone is furnished with their exclusive vehicle, and private spotter and guide
Balloon Safaris
Balloon flights are available daily in Serengeti and take off from designated sites where the disturbance to animals is kept to a minimum. Your safari vehicle drops you off at the take-off site and picks you up from your landing site. The flight is followed by a champagne breakfast “in the bush”, with a well-laid-out seating arrangement and waiters on hand, to give you a fitting finale to your memorable flight in the wild.
Game Guided Walks
Offering a refreshingly alternative view of the wilderness, a guided nature walk promises panoramic vistas, gentle exercise, and a fascinating insight into the world of African trees, flowers, insects, reptiles, birds, and animals. It also offers the ultimate contrast to the game drive.
Maasai Village Visit
A visit to a Maasai village is almost inevitable when travelling to the Serengeti. The Maasai (or Masai) are mostly known for the colourful garments and jewellery they wear, their warriors and high jumps, which continue to fascinate tourists.
