About Shinde
Shinde is a classic safari camp located in a private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta, offering a combination of permanent waterways and wide open grasslands that make it ideal for both land and water activities throughout the year. The camp is set on an island shaded by ancient jackal berry, mangosteen, and ebony trees, creating a serene and picturesque setting. Known for its warm, authentic safari atmosphere and high levels of guiding, Shinde caters to both seasoned safari-goers and first time visitors, providing an intimate wildlife experience in one of Botswana’s most sought after regions.
ACCESS & LOCATION of Shinde
Shinde lies in the Shinde Concession in the northeastern Okavango Delta. The most practical way to reach the camp is via light aircraft to Shinde Airstrip, which is about a 25 minute flight from Maun or roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes from Kasane. From the airstrip, guests are met by their guide for a short game drive of approximately 5 to 10 minutes to the camp. Road access from major towns is not feasible due to the seasonal flooding and remoteness of the delta.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Shinde
The camp features eight spacious safari tents built on raised wooden platforms, each with an en-suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, and a private deck overlooking the surrounding floodplains. Interiors are tastefully furnished with comfortable beds draped in mosquito nets, writing desks, and lounge chairs, maintaining a traditional yet stylish safari feel. The main area includes an open plan lounge, dining room, and a multi level deck for uninterrupted views of the plains and waterways. A small plunge pool offers a refreshing break during the hotter parts of the day. Meals are freshly prepared and served either in the dining area, al fresco under the stars, or at scenic bush locations. The camp is solar powered and designed with eco-friendly practices to minimize environmental impact.
