Wilderness Vumbura Plains is a premier luxury safari camp set in a private concession in the northern Okavango Delta, offering some of the most diverse wildlife experiences in Botswana. The camp is known for its stylish design that merges contemporary architecture with natural materials, creating a seamless connection between indoor comfort and the surrounding wilderness. Elevated walkways connect the suites to the main areas, ensuring guests are always above the floodplain with uninterrupted views of the delta channels and open grasslands. ACCESS & LOCATION of Wilderness Vumbura Plains
Vumbura Plains is located in the Kwedi Concession in the Okavango Delta’s northern region. Access is primarily via light aircraft to Vumbura Airstrip, which takes around 50 minutes from Maun or about 1 hour 45 minutes from Kasane. From the airstrip, it is a short game drive of approximately 15 minutes to the camp. The concession is private, so activities are not limited by the restrictions found in public national parks, allowing for more flexible safari experiences. Due to the remoteness and seasonal flooding, road access from major towns is not practical.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Wilderness Vumbura Plains
The camp consists of two separate satellite camps, each with its own main lounge, dining, and bar areas, but all under the Vumbura Plains umbrella. Each suite is spacious, with floor to ceiling glass walls that open onto private decks with plunge pools and seating areas. Interiors feature a modern and airy aesthetic with local artwork, luxurious linens, and en-suite bathrooms complete with both indoor and outdoor showers. Solar power provides electricity, and ceiling fans help keep interiors cool. Main areas include elevated viewing decks, a library, a gift shop, and open air dining spaces where meals are freshly prepared and often enjoyed under the stars.

ACTIVITIES AT Wilderness Vumbura Plains
Game Drives
Day and night drives in open 4×4 vehicles allow guests to see an array of wildlife, including lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, and large herds of buffalo. The private concession status means night drives are permitted, adding the opportunity to see nocturnal species.
Mokoro Excursions
Traditional dugout canoe rides through the floodplains and waterways provide a peaceful way to observe smaller creatures like reed frogs and waterbirds, as well as enjoy the quiet beauty of the delta.
