Discover Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi National Park Gorilla Trekking
Kibale is the nearest town to Bwindi and is eighteen miles away by road! The Bwindi National Park became a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its ecological importance in the world, as it has some of the richest populations of reptiles, moths, and other mammals.

Owned by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, this National Park has total protection for the animals and its inhabitants who rely on agriculture in the area to make a living.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Entry Fees
Entrance fee
All Bwindi Impenetrable National Park fees are payable at the gate at the time of entrance. Park fees are valid for 24 hours and adults are charged as follows:

Best Time to Visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The best time to visit Bwindi National Park in the southwestern part of Uganda is during the dry seasons. Bwindi National Park is one of the best places to visit for a primate experience in Uganda and it is located on the edge of the Albertine rift valley.
Silverback Gorillas are considered the largest primates and the type of gorillas in Uganda are mountain gorillas. The dry season in Bwindi National Park is experienced during the months around June, July, August, September, and October and also December, January, and February. During this time of the year, conditions for seeing gorillas are favorable in the national park.
Being close to the equator, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has a tropical climate. Daytime temperatures usually hover around 23°Cand drop to around 11°C at night, depending on the altitude. Rain falls throughout the year, however considerably less during the dry season from June to August and December to February.
April, May, October, November
The wettest month is November with long hours of drizzle. the trails are slippery but is the best time for bird watching as migratory birds are attracted to the heavy rains.
March and September
In terms of gorilla trekking the gorillas stay in lower slopes where availability of food is more hence treks won’t be too long.
June, July, August
This is the dry season and the best time for gorilla trekking. June and July are the coolest months with temperatures reaching highs of 22 C (72 F) during the day and lows of 11 C (52 F) at night. Tourist traffic is high during this time since its also summer in europe and north america. This is also the best time as you can join with safaris in other parks like serengeti, masai mara, ngorongoro, okavango delta and others.
How to Get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You can get here by chartered or scheduled flight. Kihihi is the closest airport to the Buhoma and Ruhija areas of the park, and Kisoro Airport is the closest airport to Rushaga and Nkuringo.
If you are planning on visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park during your visit to Uganda too, you can drive from there to the Northern edge of Bwindi in around three to four hours.
