Volcanoes National Park is located in the northwestern region of Rwanda. The park is a home to the endangered mountain gorillas and part of the Virunga Massif that covers Uganda, Rwanda and DRC. Extending from sea level to 4,507 meters high, the park encompasses the summits of five of East AfricaтАЩs dormant volcanoes. ┬аBesides mountain gorillas, Volcanoes National park is home to golden monkeys, a variety of birds, reptiles and amphibians. In 2005, in a bid to boost conservation and┬аgorilla tours┬аin Volcanoes national park, Rwanda introduced the annual baby naming ceremony for baby gorillas known as тАШKwita IziinaтАЩ which has seen great results in as far as gorilla population in volcanoes is concerned.
