Ekai P. Lomelo is a passionate safari guide at Cheetah Safaris, driven by a deep rooted love for nature, a strong commitment to wildlife conservation, and a desire to share the wonders of the wilderness with guests from around the world. He specializes in ornithology, storytelling, cultural sensitivity, problem solving, destination knowledge, and ensuring guest safety throughout every safari experience.
His favourite destination is the Maasai Mara National Reserve, admired for its incredible wildlife density, iconic landscapes, big cats, and the spectacular annual migration. One of his most unforgettable safari moments was witnessing the Rongai pride of lions hunting a buffalo and its calf, a vivid reminder of the raw, unfiltered rhythm of nature.
Ekai finds the gerenuk fascinating for its unique ability to stand on hind legs to browse high bushes. He also admires the leopard for its beauty, intelligence, and remarkable camouflage skills, which make it one of the most elusive animals to spot.
He enjoys educating guests about surprising safari realities, from chilly early morning game drives to Kenya’s modern culture, wildlife tracking technologies, and the true adventure of traversing diverse landscapes. He encourages guests to prepare well by packing neutral-colored clothing, sun protection, quality binoculars, and prioritizing health preparation before travel.
When he is not guiding, Ekai enjoys reading to grow his career knowledge and spending quality time outdoors with his family.
