Alex Walker’s Serian Camp
This was the first of Alex Walker’s Serian camps, and it perfectly captures the essence of its name, meaning ‘peaceful, calm, serene’ in the Maasai language. The camp was designed to be a retreat from the bustle of contemporary life, and a chance to experience untamed Africa in traditional tented fashion.
The camp lies in the private Mara North Conservancy, with its seven tents and mess tent strung out along the river. The beauty of this location within a private conservancy is that only 10 or so other small safari camps have access to the land, with a ratio of around 1 guest to 350 acres. This helps to ensure exclusivity and a top-quality, low-density safari experience.

Alex Walker’s Serian Original Camp has a prime location looking out over the Mara River and Oloololo Escarpment. ‘The Original’ is open all year round, ideal for families, groups, and couples looking for a getaway. The first of Alex Walker’s properties, this five-tent camp is one of 11 located in the Mara North Conservancy.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Alex Walker’s Serian Camp
All tents at Alex Walker’s Serian Original Camp are set on hardwood decking, above the Mara River with views over the Olooloo Escarpment. Each has an adjoining bush bathroom with hot and cold running water, a flush toilet, and a shower and custom-made bathtub with gorgeous views over the landscape.
24-hour electricity on a combination of solar and generator at Alex Walker’s Serian Original Camp. Hosted dining en famille, in our cozy dining room or under dappled sunlight on our wooden deck.
All guest tents have their characterful bathrooms with running hot and cold water, flush loo, shower, and fantastic custom bathtub. These self-contained bathroom areas are a few steps away from the main bedroom tent. Tents 7 and 5 have a stylish washroom incorporated within the main bedroom tent as well as a full bathroom beyond.

Game Drives

We believe the way to get the most out of your time is that everyone is furnished with their exclusive vehicle, and private spotter and guide
Balloon Safaris
Balloon flights are available daily in Maasai Mara and take off from designated sites where the disturbance to animals is kept to a minimum. Your safari vehicle drops you off at the take-off site and picks you up from your landing site. The flight is followed by a champagne breakfast “in the bush”, with a well laid out seating arrangement and waiters on hand, to give you a fitting finale to your memorable flight in the wild.
Game Guided Walks
Offering a refreshingly alternative view of the wilderness, a guided nature walk promises panoramic vistas, gentle exercise, and a fascinating insight into the world of African trees, flowers, insects, reptiles, birds, and animals. It also offers the ultimate contrast to the game drive.
Maasai Village Visit
A visit to a Maasai village is almost inevitable when travelling to the Maasai Mara. The Maasai (or Masai) are mostly known for the colorful garments and jewelry they wear, their warriors and high jumps, which continue to fascinate tourists.
