About Governors Camp
Governors Camp in Masai Mara possibly occupies the best wildlife viewing location in the Masai Mara Reserve, nestled in the riverine forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, its waters teeming with bird-life, hippos, and crocodiles. It is perfect for couples, families, and friends wanting to experience the best of what a safari in the Masai Mara has to offer.
The entire camp is under canvas with all of the comforts of a luxury hotel. Some of the 25 tents line the riverbank, tucked into the forest they enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River, others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara.
The tents are big, and bright and allow in lots of natural light. All tents are classic safari style each with en-suite bathrooms and a private verandah. There is a bar tent with a deck overlooking the Mara River and a dining tent with amazing views over the plains.

It is also located in one of the most spectacular parts of the Masai Mara in Kenya. The camp is at the heart of the wildebeest migration that passes through this area between July and September. It is located in the heart of Masai Mara, around the Marsh region of the Mara Triangle Area. It’s 1 Hour flight away from Nairobi, and 8 hours drive from Nairobi. You can access the camp using any gate.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Governors Camp
The camp has 37 tents lining the riverbank of the famous Mara River tucked amongst the forest with views either over the river or across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. The camp is unfenced, meaning you can sit on your private tent veranda with your morning coffee and watch the wildlife grazing the plains before you.
Everything is under canvas; all tents have polished wooden floors and en-suite indoor bathrooms with hot and cold running water and toilets. The main tent holds the spacious bar area including deck seating overlooking the Mara River while the dining tent boasts magnificent views of the plains.
