Safari Overview
Begin your safari in Nairobi, where you are met upon arrival and transferred to Wilson Airport. From here, take a scheduled flight to Samburu National Reserve, located in Kenya’s northern frontier. Samburu’s stark, semi-arid terrain is home to unique wildlife found nowhere else in Kenya, such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich, collectively known as the “Samburu Special Five.”
Stay at Samburu Intrepids Camp, a luxury tented camp nestled along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. During your two full days here, enjoy expertly guided game drives that offer thrilling encounters with elephants, lions, leopards, and large herds of plains game. The Ewaso Nyiro River is a lifeline to the region’s wildlife, and sightings of animals gathering here to drink are frequent and dramatic. The rugged beauty of the landscape, dotted with doum palms, dramatic hills, and open plains, adds a wild, cinematic dimension to your safari.
Following your time in Samburu, board another scenic bush flight to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the crown jewel of Kenya’s wildlife areas. Known for its abundance of Big Cats and the annual Great Migration, the Mara offers one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Stay at LOYK Camp, an eco-luxury camp set in a serene, wildlife-rich location ideal for exploring the heart of the reserve.
Spend three nights in the Mara, with full days dedicated to morning and afternoon game drives across vast savannahs teeming with wildlife. Expect to encounter lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and more, with the possibility of witnessing river crossings and predator-prey interactions if visiting during the migration season. The landscape here is classic Africa: endless plains, scattered acacia trees, and the winding Mara River.
Between game drives, relax at the camp, enjoy freshly prepared meals, and soak in the tranquil atmosphere of the African bush. Optional activities include hot air balloon safaris, Maasai cultural visits, and bush breakfasts or sundowners in stunning wilderness settings.
On your final day, enjoy a morning game drive followed by breakfast at camp. Then, transfer to the airstrip for your return flight to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. Upon landing, you are transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international departure, marking the end of an extraordinary journey through Kenya’s wild north and south.
