About Ashnil Aruba Camp
Ashnil Aruba camp is located in the eastern part of the Tsavo ecosystem. It gets its name from the Aruba dam in Tsavo East National Park. The dam was initially built as a sport fishing point in the pack back in 1952. Considered to be one of the best lodges in Tsavo East National Park. There is a presence of several watering holes around the park that offer great spots to see wildlife.
The lodge has 52 rooms that are built to blend with he surroundings. Its rooms are spacious and offer modern amenities. It also offers a range of activities, varying from bird watching to game drives to guided nature walks and cultural visits to nearby local villages.
ACCESS & LOCATION of Ashnil Aruba Camp
The lodge is easily accessible from Nairobi or Mombasa by both road and air.
Its 326 kilometers from Nairobi making it a 5 hour drive and 160 kilometers from Mombasa making it a 2 to 3 hours drivers.
From Wilson airport in Nairobi to either Voi or Aruba Airstrip its a 1 to 1.5 hour flight followed by a short drive while from Mombasa its around 45 minutes to the nearest airstrip.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Ashnil Aruba Camp
The lodge has 52 rooms in total. This are 40 deluxe en-suite rooms with 8 of them having interconnecting doors, 4 triple rooms with only one of them being an interconnecting room, 6 luxury tents and 2 rooms situated for disabled persons.

There is an open sitting restaurant located at the main building that offers views of the dam from all angles. A lounge bar, conference halls, a souvenir shop that’s open 6.00 am to 10.00 pm, a swimming pool that overlooks the game park and an infirmary.
ACTIVITIES AT Ashnil Aruba Camp
Game Drives
The camp offers morning, afternoon, and full-day game drives. You get to explore Tsavo East’s vast savannahs and have the opportunity to spot the Big Five. Experienced guides lead these drives around the Tsavo East National Park, which is home to Zebras, red Elephants, Leopards, Lions, Giraffes, and more. There is also the availability of private drives curated to the guests’ preferences.
Excursions to Lugard’s Falls and Mudanda Rock
Mudanda Rock is a 1.5kmwhale-backed rock, which is found between Manyani Gate and Voi, and is famous for photo opportunities to capture prime wildlife shots. It is also a great vantage point where you can view the natural dam below, which attracts hundreds of elephants at times.
Lugard’s falls are better described as rapid falls. found on the Galana river, the falls gush through a small fissure before plunging to the pool below, where crocodiles bask in the sun. 1km east of the falls, there is a crocodile point where you’ll see hippos, buffalo, and crocodiles.
