Little Governors Camp Masai Mara
About Little Governors Camp Masai Mara
Located on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve, Little Governors Camp is accessed by a very short boat ride across the Mara River and an escorted walk through the riverine forest. Vehicles are left on the far river bank, and the camp is, therefore, quiet and undisturbed. The guest tents at Little Governors Camp have wooden decks with large verandahs, and guests can enjoy the constant game activity around the marsh in front of the camp.
ACCESS & LOCATION of Little Governors Camp Masai Mara
Little Governors Camp is perfectly positioned around a seasonal marsh close to the Mara River, with views across the Oloololo Escarpment.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Little Governors Camp Masai Mara
Little Governors’ Camp has 17 tents situated in a wide curve around a small marsh. The marsh acts as a magnet for game in the dry season and sitting in camp you can often see buffalo grazing or elephants coming to drink. Beyond the marsh, the plains stretch toward the escarpment.
Each tent is comfortable and has a covered outdoor veranda with two safari chairs and a small table. Inside, simple furnishings include twin beds, a wardrobe rack, a desk/dressing table, and safari chairs. The en suite bathrooms have hot showers and WC. Screened windows let in light and air during the day and are covered at night (although if you want the blinds left up to enjoy the stars and breeze it is possible).
Little Governors Camp runs on solar power and has been awarded a GOLD Eco-Rating from Eco-Tourism Kenya due to its sustainable tourism practices in the camp.

ACTIVITIES AT Little Governors Camp Masai Mara
Game Drives
Game drives tend to be the principal means of going about spotting wildlife, and are likely to comprise a great deal of your safari – so it goes without saying that this aspect of your experience is a special point of focus for us. We believe the way to get the most out of your time is that everyone is furnished with their exclusive vehicle, and private spotter and guide
Balloon Safaris
Balloon flights are available daily in Maasai Mara and take off from designated sites where the disturbance to animals is kept to a minimum. Your safari vehicle drops you off at the take-off site and picks you up from your landing site. The flight is followed by a champagne breakfast “in the bush”, with a well-laid-out seating arrangement and waiters on hand, to give you a fitting finale to your memorable flight in the wild.
Game Guided Walks
Offering a refreshingly alternative view of the wilderness, a guided nature walk promises panoramic vistas, gentle exercise, and a fascinating insight into the world of African trees, flowers, insects, reptiles, birds, and animals. It also offers the ultimate contrast to the game drive.
Maasai Village Visit
A visit to a Maasai village is almost inevitable when travelling to the Maasai Mara. The Maasai (or Masai) are mostly known for the colourful garments and jewellery they wear, their warriors and high jumps, which continue to fascinate tourists.
