This National Park is Located in 

Hot, dry, remote, and unspoiled, this reserve is designated a Wilderness Activity Zone and allows for fly camping, fishing, camel, and horseback safaris for the intrepid visitor. Other attractions include Adamson’s Falls, fishing and boating on Tana River, and visiting Kampi ya Simba, the former home of Joy and George Adamson and the grave of Elsa the lioness.

Mwingi National Reserve is one of the three Kenya reserves located in the Meru Conservation Area (MCA) in North Eastern Kenya. This reserve shares borders with Kora National Park located in Tana River County, Meru National Park located in Meru County, and finally Bisandi National reserve located in Isiolo County.

The total area covered by the Mwingi reserve is 745 square kilometers in a landscape that majorly comprises of open savannah, acacia woodlands, commiphora, luggas, and rivers. The total area covered by the Meru Conservation Area is estimated to be 4400sq km

How to Pay for Mwingi Game Reserve Fees

How do you pay for Mwingi Game Reserve Fees? To pay for Park Fees, you will have to visit the KWS E-Citizen Account, create an account, and select Mwingi Game Reserve to pay for the park fees.

1. Download the e-Citizen mobile app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

2. Open the app and create an account or sign in if you already have an account.

3. Tap on the “Services” tab.

4. Scroll down and select “Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)”.

5. Select the park or sanctuary that you want to visit.

6. Enter the number of adults and children in your party.

7. Select the payment method.

You can pay using M-Pesa, Airtel Money, or a credit/debit card.

8. Review your payment details and tap on “Pay”.

You will receive a confirmation message once your payment is successful.

The transaction will be mirrored in the Kenya Wildlife Service system, facilitating the visitor’s entry to the park upon arrival at the entrance. On the day of Visit, ensure you have the ticket, and share it with the gate wardens for entry to the park.

Which is the Best Time to Visit Mwingi Game Reserve

How to Get to Mwingi Game Reserve

Best way to go to Mwingi Game Reserve

By Road

From Nairobi it is approx. 280 km making it a 5 to 6 hours drive. Take Thika Road (A2) to Matuu, then proceed through Mwingi town to the reserve. If from Kitui Town it’s about 125 km. Drive north via Mwingi town toward the reserve. 4WD vehicles are recommended, especially during the rainy season.

By Air

The nearest airstrips are in Meru National Park and Kora National Park, which can be accessed by chartered flights from Wilson Airport in Nairobi. From the airstrips, visitors must drive to Mwingi Game Reserve.
