Shaba National Reserve Park Entry Fee

Park Entry Fees:

    • Foreign Residents: USD $40 per adult per day.
    • Kenyan Citizens: KES 1,000 per adult per day.

Best Time to Visit Shaba National Reserve

Dry Seasons (June to September and January to February)

  • These are the best months for wildlife viewing, as animals congregate around the river and waterholes.

Wet Seasons (October to May)

  • Some areas may be difficult to access due to heavy rains. However, this is a good time for birdwatching, as migratory birds arrive.

How to get to Shaba National Reserve

By Road

  • Shaba National Reserve is about 314 kilometers from Nairobi, a drive of approximately 6-7 hours via Isiolo. The road is mostly paved, but the final stretch may require a 4×4 vehicle, especially during the rainy season.

By Air

  • There are charter flights from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to nearby airstrips such as Samburu, Buffalo Springs, or Shaba airstrip.
