Saiwa Swamp National Park is located near Kitale, in Trans-Nzoia County, Rift Valley Province, Kenya. It is the smallest national park in Kenya, only 3 km², and was created as habitat for the Sitatunga, a rare aquatic antelope. There are a variety of trees at the national park.

Best Time to Visit Saiwa Swamp National Park

How to get to Saiwa Swamp National Park

Saiwa Swamp National Park is located in Trans Nzoia County, Kenya, about 385 km northwest of Nairobi. The park is accessible by road via Kitale, which is approximately 25 km south of the park. From Kitale, travelers take the Kitale-Kapenguria road to Kipsaina, then follow a 5 km dirt road to the park’s main entrance.

For those traveling by air, the nearest airstrip is Kitale Airstrip, which receives scheduled flights from Nairobi. From the airstrip, visitors can hire a taxi or use private transport to reach the park. The roads are generally accessible, though a 4WD vehicle may be necessary during the rainy season.
