About Aberdare Country Club
The Aberdare Country Club is located in the Aberdare Highlands on the slope of Mweiga Hill.
That’s approximately 180 kilometers northeast of Nairobi, Kenya.
It was originally the home to an English couple who settled in Kenya.
It was originally referred to as ‘The Steep” before it became a Country club and was opened to the people.
It’s set within a 1.300 acre wildlife sanctuary. The country club is considered a heritage property.
The country club is an ideal gateway destination that is set in an absolutely beautiful setting.
Offering views of the Solio Game Sanctuary towards the north, Aberdare Mountains towards the west, and Mount Kenya towards the east.
It also serves as a check-in point for the Ark, which happens to be its sister establishment
How do you Get to Aberdare Country Club?
The club is accessible by road from Nairobi which is approximately 190km away making it a 2 and a half hour drive to 3 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions.
There is no direct flight to the facility but one can take a chartered flight from the Wilson Airport in Nairobi to Nanyuki airstrip which is a 45 minute flight then take a 45 minute drive to the Aberdare Country Club that is 32 kilometers away from the airstrip.
What Facilities are at Aberdare Country Club?
In terms of accommodation the Aberdare country club compromises of 37 rooms and 10 cottages. Specifically 36 classic rooms (18 queen classic rooms and 18 twin classic rooms) , 1 signature room, 7 classic cottages (1 queen classic cottage, 3 twin classic cottages and 3 family classic cottages), 2 superior cottages and 1 signature cottage.
Facilities wise the club offers a swimming pool that’s heated, a tennis court, horse riding, a spa that has (a gym, sauna, steam and massage, a health club), a 5km, 9km and 14km jogging track, animal sanctuary, offers WIFI in all rooms and areas, biking, a nine-hole golf course, nature walks and a variety of sundowners and bush dining options.
There is disabled accessibility and a special room.
