About Alex Walker Serian Mobile Camp
Alex Walker’s Serian is a collection of intimate and exclusive safari camps. Being mobile camps that means they move seasonally. This is a unique bush camping experience that ensures you of a great front row seat to the natural views. Serian is a Maasai word that means serene, calm and tranquil.
Serian’s Serengeti South mobile camp is set up on the southmost extreme of the park from mid-December to May, allowing you the best position to witness the Wildebeest Calving Season. The camp is specifically set up in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area during this period. You get impressive views to about 500,000 wildebeest calves born within a period of just 3 to 4 weeks.
Aside from this spectacle, you’ll have lake Eyasi to your south. A home to the Hadzabe and Ndorobo tribes where the guides come from giving you first hand knowledge to their way of lives and the secrets of the area.
ACCESS & LOCATION of Alex Walker Serian Mobile Camp
The camp is about 50 kilometers south of Ndutu within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The camp is accessible via the Mwiba Airstrip followed by a drive through the par’s landscapes to the camp. A flight from Arusha is approximately 50 minutes followed by a 45 minute to 1 hour drive.
By road from Arusha the journey takes 5 to 10 hours and is less common due to the distance and conditions of the road.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Alex Walker Serian Mobile Camp
In terms of accommodation, there are 6 spacious and comfortable tents sent among acacia trees. Each offering tasteful décor, with views over the Wildebeest calving area. An en-suite bathroom with a flushing toilet and bucket shower, 24 hours electricity that is generator powered, wrought-iron beds and Moroccan rugs.
Facility wise, there is communal dining areas and lounge spaces. Each group is assigned a 4WD safari vehicle with a dedicated guide and spotter.

This is an adventurous, private and unique bush camping experience. You get a chance to go and walkabout with the local tribesmen. The traditional Hadzabe hunter-gatherers teach you how to track animals, identify medical plants and the makings of bows and arrows. Get to see through their eyes.
Game drives
With each group getting their very own open-top 4WD safari vehicle, dedicated guide and spotter you are assured a great safari experience. You are not restricted to schedules and can go wherever the day takes you.
