Ashnil Samburu Camp is a luxury tented set in the spectacular backdrop drop of the Mighty Ol Olokwe mountain fronting Ewaso Nyiro River. An outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sun lounges, a garden and a Lounge bar offering views of the African savannah.

The restaurant offers views of the river and serves a variety of menus comprising of Oriental, traditional and international cuisines. A range of activities are available on request and comprise of game drives, nature Walks and a cultural visit to the Samburu Village, bush meals like bush lunch/dinner and sundowners.

ACCESS & LOCATION of Ashnil Samburu Camp

Ashnil Samburu Camp sits in Buffalo Springs Game Reserve which takes its name from an oasis of crystal clear water at the western end of the reserve. its 1 hour flight from Nairobi landing at the nearest airstrip kown as Kalama Airstrip. If you are driving, it will take Approx 8 hours to arrive in Samburu Ashnil Camp using Archers Post Gate.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT Ashnil Samburu Camp

There are a total number of 19 deluxe en-suite tents, 9 with King or Queen sized beds, 7 with twin beds and 3 with triple beds. Each of the exclusive comfortable deluxe tents gives perfect view of the Ewaso Nyiro River, surrounding beautiful landscape and all lives this brown river supports. Every spacious tent consists of a dressing area, sitting area, luggage rack and en-suite facilities to provide a memorable stay close to nature.

Each luxury tent has a wooden deck overlooking the plains and wildlife in the reserve; the Mara River, famous for the wildebeest migration. The bed is draped in mosquito nets and the private bathroom includes a shower with free toiletries.

Game Drives 

Game drives tend to be the principal means of going about spotting wildlife, and are likely to comprise a great deal of your safari – so it goes without saying that this aspect of your experience is a special point of focus for us. We believe the way to get the most out of your time is that everyone is furnished with their exclusive vehicle, and private spotter and guide

Balloon Safaris

Balloon flights are available daily in Maasai Mara and take off from designated sites where the disturbance to animals is kept to a minimum. Your safari vehicle drops you off at the take-off site and picks you up from your landing site. The flight is followed by a champagne breakfast “in the bush”, with a well-laid-out seating arrangement and waiters on hand, to give you a fitting finale to your memorable flight in the wild.

Game Guided Walks

Offering a refreshingly alternative view of the wilderness, a guided nature walk promises panoramic vistas, gentle exercise, and a fascinating insight into the world of African trees, flowers, insects, reptiles, birds, and animals. It also offers the ultimate contrast to the game drive.

Maasai Village Visit

A visit to a Maasai village is almost inevitable when travelling to the Maasai Mara. The Maasai (or Masai) are mostly known for the colourful garments and jewellery they wear, their warriors and high jumps, which continue to fascinate tourists.

Expert Review of Ashnil Samburu Camp

The tents are very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating areas and nice shower room. The location on the river is superb. We had elephants coming right up to the fence a few feet from our tent, and giraffes strolling past. Every member of staff was exceptionally friendly and they seemed so pleased that we had booked for 5 nights. The restaurant was a la carte service and we were also treated to a bush dinner on our last night. All the food was excellent.. The camp is slightly quirky as the generators are off between 10-noon and 4-6 in the afternoon.
