Frequently Asked Questions Uganda Safaris

If you have any queries regarding our Uganda destinations, you can contact our friendly team who would be happy to help! Alternatively, you may find your question in our most frequently asked questions below!

A highlight of Ugandan wildlife is its incredible primate diversity, with over half the world’s endangered mountain gorillas residing in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Visitors can also track large populations of chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, alongside various monkey species.

Uganda’s savannah parks, like Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls, offer the classic African Big Four: lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Unique sights include the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha and the vast herds of hippos and Nile crocodiles along the Kazinga Channel.

Beyond the impressive animals you will see, Uganda is a true birding paradise, home to over 1,000 species, including the prehistoric-looking Shoebill stork. Antelopes like the endemic Uganda Kob, along with zebras and Rothschild’s giraffes, make it a true paradise where you can spot all varieties of wildlife species.

The best time of year to see gorillas in Uganda is during the two dry seasons, from June to September and December to February, which offer drier, less slippery trails and better visibility. These are also peak tourist seasons, so permits are in high demand and more expensive. For those on a who prefer fewer crowds, the rainy seasons (March-May and October-November) are an option, though the trails can be muddy and challenging.

Yes, most visitors need a visa for Uganda, but citizens of certain countries are exempt. You must apply for an e-Visa online before traveling, as visas are not issued on arrival. Learn how to apply for a Uganda Visa.
