Borana Conservancy lies at the foot of Mount Kenya, displaying 35,000 acres of land with stunning views and immense wildlife. Mount Kenya poses a beautiful backdrop for the conservancy, with views of the mountains’ snow-capped peaks to the south, and a landscape of mountains and desert
to the north.
Created To Preserve Critical Habitats
A haven for a wide diversity of wildlife, the Borana Conservancy is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the sustainable conservation of critical habitats and wildlife. Amid the beautiful hillside, the iconic African wildlife grace the conservancy habitat, including elephants,
giraffes, lions, leopards, hyenas, and many more.
Forming Kenya’s Biggest Black Rhino Sanctuary
In 2014, Borana and the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy removed the fence, that separated the two conservancies, to form the largest black rhino sanctuary in Kenya. The ecosystem is also home to the endangered Grevy’s zebras, which have undergone a substantial reduction of any African mammal over recent decades.
Working with local communities and other partners, the conservancy can maintain a sustainable ecosystem for tourists to visit and wildlife to live.
