Best Time to Visit Moremi Game Reserve

Which is the Best Time to Visit Moremi Game Reserve

The best time to visit Moremi Game Reserve is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. During this period, wildlife is easier to spot as animals concentrate around the few remaining water sources, and the vegetation is thinner. The weather is cooler, and the dry conditions make for excellent game viewing and photography. This is also the peak season for safaris in the Okavango Delta, offering optimal conditions for mokoro trips, game drives, and boat safaris.

Low Season

November to April

This is the wet season, characterized by lush landscapes and abundant rainfall. While it’s a quieter time to visit, the wet season can make some roads difficult to navigate, and wildlife is more dispersed. However, this period offers great birdwatching opportunities, as migratory birds arrive, and the reserve is incredibly lush and green.

High Season

May to June

The start of the dry season brings cooler temperatures and better conditions for game viewing. The park starts to dry out, and animals begin to gather around the remaining water sources. It’s a great time to visit, with fewer crowds than the peak months.

Peak Season

July to October

The height of the dry season is the best time for wildlife viewing, as animals congregate around the waterholes. Visibility is excellent due to the sparse vegetation, and the weather is dry and sunny. This is the most popular time to visit Moremi, so it’s essential to book accommodations and activities in advance.
