Hosting 50,000 acres of wildlife conservation, the Mara Naboisho conservancy is located in the Masai Mara ecosystem.

Home To a Huge Lion Population

As the second-largest conservancy in the region, it boasts a high density of spectacular wildlife. You will find impressive herds of elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, and zebra, as well as large numbers of big cats. Mara Naboisho has one of the highest lion populations in the world living in its vicinity. Not only are the plains filled with protected wildlife animals, but Naiboisho is also considered a bird watcher’s paradise for the array of rare birdlife gracing the skies.

Supporting The Local Community

The Naboisho conservancy was established not only to protect the environment and wildlife but also to empower the local Maasai community. The area is made up of land contributions from 500
Maasai landowners, who exhibit the cultural heritage of the local Maasai. Landowners are provided with good grazing throughout the year, as the conservancy management moves them from one area to another during different seasons.

The conservancy strictly monitors the number of tourists and vehicles that enter the area to reduce the human impact on the environment and wildlife.

Masai Mara Naboisho Conservancy is home to the special five wildlife species. The best exclusive destination in Kenya to spot the Big Five. It has an impressive population of black and white rhinos, buffalo, the famous wildebeest, and big cats.

Masai Mara Naboisho Conservancy is one of the best conservancies among the many in the Masai Mara. It’s rich in wildlife, spot the big five such as the Lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Best place to stay to view Wildebeest Migration and Wildlife in exclusivity.

The Conservancy is not in good condition during the rainy season, due to heavy rains, lodges and camps tend to close this time as they renovate their properties.

Low Season

April to June

  • Known as the green season, is when the long rains in Kenya start, and lodges and camps in this region are hard to access. Therefore, they all close down, and most of them take advantage to renovate them as they await the peak season from July to October. But some are open for fly-in guests who want a long stay on exclusive safaris.

High Season

January – March

  • This season is the best since the conservancy is hot, and after the short rains in December. The Conservancy gets lush green and attracts a lot of wildlife, and makes it easier to spot wildlife since the grass is not that tall, but green.

November to Dec

  • The short rains start this time, and they rain till the end of Dec at times. It’s a fairly good time to visit Mara North Conservancy for the short or long stay when offers are available.

Peak Season

July to October

  • Its the busiest and most loved season. Known as the peak season, when visitors from all over the world visit Kenya for the summer season and holidays. The Season starts with the cold month of July and gets hot in August to October. Short rains in Kenya start between Oct to Dec. Its the best time to visit the conservancy for the Wildebeest Migration, though it gets crowded.

By Air

Domestic Flights

Fly from Wilson Airport (Nairobi) to the Ol Seki Airstrip, which is the closest airstrip to Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Flights take about 1 hour.

International Connections

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi from wherever you are, then transfer to Wilson Airport for a domestic flight to the conservancy.

By Road

From Nairobi

The conservancy is approximately 260 km from Nairobi. The drive takes about 5–6 hours, depending on road conditions. The route involves tarmac roads up to Narok town, followed by rough roads to the conservancy. A 4×4 vehicle is highly recommended, especially during the rainy season.

From Maasai Mara National Reserve

If you’re already in the Maasai Mara, Mara Naboisho Conservancy is easily accessible by road, and transfers can be arranged by tour operators.
