There are some 54 + Kenya National Parks and Reserves, with many sanctuaries and private conservancies all over the country. KWS is responsible for managing the National Parks, to protect the wildlife from poaching and from bush meat opportunists, which is a huge problem all over Africa.

The most visited national parks and reserves in Kenya include:-

  • Lake Nakuru National Park

Tsavo National Park, a national park, southeastern Kenya, east of Mount Kilimanjaro. The largest (8,036 square miles [20,812 square km]) of Kenya’s national parks, it was established in 1948. Later that year, for administrative purposes, the park was divided into two smaller units: Tsavo East and Tsavo West.

The Nairobi National Park is the oldest of Kenya’s national parks. The wildlife sanctuary was established in 1946 and is located four miles south of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. It covers 45.26 square miles in size, making it one of the smallest parks in Kenya.
